Qutuhal Prime:
A Year-long Innovation Odyssey in AI

Qutuhal, the flagship innovation platform of Global Schools Group, takes a big leap forward this year with the launch of Qutuhal Prime at Global Indian International School (GIIS) Abu Dhabi – the host school of Qutuhal Season 7.

About Qutuhal Prime

This new year-long programme is designed to help students across all grades pick up future-ready skills and understand how AI can be applied in everyday life.

In line with the UAE’s Year of Community, Qutuhal Prime encourages students to come together to explore real-world challenges, think creatively, and work on ideas that connect with their communities. With the theme “AI for All – Connecting Communities,” students from Grade 1 to Grade 12 will have the chance to explore how technology can solve problems that matter — making AI something every learner can understand and use.

Programme Overview

Qutuhal Prime Challenges

Starting from May 2025 to November 2025, with a Grand Finale in January 2026, each month a unique AI challenge will be released to all participants. While the theme remains consistent across grades, the complexity and expectations will be tailored according to four broad student categories.

Category 1

My AI Adventure

AI Starters (Grade 1-2)

Category 2

My AI Comic Journey

AI Explorers (Grade 3-4)

Category 3

My AI Avatar

AI Builders (Grade 5-8)

Category 4

My Qutuhal AI

AI Innovators (Grade 9-12)

Congratulations to
Our Winners

See who topped the leaderboard.

Every challenge will encourage students to:

  • Understand a real-world problem affecting communities
  • Apply age-appropriate AI tools and thinking models
  • Ideate, design, and present a prototype or solution
  • Reflect on its potential community impact

Qutuhal Prime’s Monthly Challenge Cycle

Each month follows a structured flow to maximise learning and engagement:

Launch of monthly theme & briefing Session

Skill-building sessions

Challenge development time (2–3 weeks)

Submission & presentation

Evaluation & recognition ceremony

Awards & Recognition

All participants will receive monthly certificates as a token of appreciation and encouragement for their consistent involvement. In addition, there will be recognition for the top three performers in each grade band, celebrating outstanding achievements and motivating continued excellence among students.

Participants with exceptional contributions will be selected for the Annual Grand Showcase featuring the best community-impact projects, providing a platform to highlight meaningful work. They will also gain access to opportunities for mentorship, exhibition, and publication, supporting their growth and wider recognition.

Outcome & Vision

By the end of this 10-months journey, students will not only be familiar with the fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence but will also be able to:

  1. Build a personal AI portfolio
  2. Solve real-world problems using technology
  3. Understand the importance of collaboration and empathy in tech
  4. Gain the confidence to innovate responsibly

Challenge 1: AI for News

In this challenge, you’ll explore how artificial intelligence can analyze and classify news headlines as real or fake. You’ll use the AI4ALL Fake News Classifier tool (or a simple version using Scratch or TM) to test out different headlines and see how AI decides what’s trustworthy.

You can either: Use a pre-trained fake news demo tool, or Train a simple model using an AI platform like Teachable Machine (TM).

Try entering 5–10 headlines and observe how your AI model reacts!

Use the algorithmic tool in the experiment to make your own garden artwork. Simply follow the steps in the algorithmic toolbox to select your garden conditions and play with how the algorithm solves the problem of empathy. It then generates a garden design for you; each design created is a one-off edition of the artwork.

Pollinator Pathmaker is a campaign to make art for pollinators, planted and cared for by humans. We want to transform how we see gardens and who we make them for. Created by the artist Alexandra Daisy Ginsberg, this one-of-a-kind interspecies artwork is commissioned by the Eden Project, Cornwall, UK.

AI for Ocean

In just three minutes help marine scientists in their ocean restoration work – attempting to bring life back to damaged corals.

1 – Listen to a healthy coral reef and compare it to the sounds of an unhealthy reef

2 – Train your ear on different types of ocean sounds

3 – Click when you hear a fish sound

This crowd-sourced data will help scientists monitor ecosystem health, track illegal fishing, and measure success at restoration sites. With this project we hope to help communicate the scientific value of listening as our primary sense under the water by combining this with new revolutionary scientific research By turning our collective ear to the oceans and by listening out for sounds, we can help scientists monitor ecosystem health, track illegal fishing, and measure success at restoration sites.

Prompt Picture

A prompt is a sentence or question that you type into a computer or robot to tell it what you want it to do.

In this fun and creative activity, you  will take your steps into the world of Artificial Intelligence by becoming AI Artists! Using a simple and exciting tool like Bing Image Creator or Craiyon, students will type in a sentence (called a prompt) and watch the AI turn their words into amazing pictures.

Try out 2–3 different prompts and observe how small changes in the words can change the picture. This helps them understand that how we ask matters – even to a robot!

Once you find your favorite image, save it, write (or record) a short line about why they chose that prompt, and get ready to showcase your imagination!

AI Sorting

This challenge introduces our youngest innovators to the world of Artificial Intelligence in a fun and visual way. Students will train their very first AI model to recognize and sort simple shapes such as circles, squares, and triangles.

By using Google Teachable Machine, children will learn how to show examples to the computer (training data) and then test it with new pictures (testing data). The computer will try to guess which shape it sees – sometimes it will be right, and sometimes it will make mistakes!

AI Voice Trainer

In this activity, you will step into the shoes of AI sound detectives. Using Google Teachable Machine, they will create an AI model that listens and learns to recognize sounds such as a clap, whistle, or silence.

The challenge encourages you to train AI with real sounds, then play a fun game where their AI must “guess” which sound it hears. By doing so, you will begin to understand how computers can be trained to process and classify audio information — the same way voice assistants like Alexa or Siri work!

  1. Clap: clap your hands near the microphone.
  2. Whistle: make a whistling sound.
  3. Silence: keep quiet (no sound).
  • Train your model.
  • Test the model with new sounds (e.g., clapping at a different speed, whistling louder/softer).
  • Play the AI Sound Game: make a sound, see if AI predicts it correctly, and count how many correct guesses you get out of 10.

AI Label Logic

Have you ever wondered how apps like Google Photos can tell a cat from a dog, or how chatbots can detect whether you’re happy, sad, or angry?
This challenge puts you in the role of a data scientist where you will:

  • Train an AI classifier (a model that sorts things into categories).
  • Test your model with brand-new data.
  • Analyze its performance just like real AI engineers do!

By experimenting with text, image, or number data, students will discover the importance of good training examples, and learn that the quality of data directly affects AI accuracy.
